This book was a favorite for my friends and I in high school, and we re-cast it every few years. Tom, Daisy, and Jay should all be in their early 30s, and so people we may have picked 10 years ago have already aged out of the roles. Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp fall into that category to me... too old already! Not to say they couldn't capture Gatsby's persona, but I would just want to see someone younger pull it off, to make it realistic. My most recent version included Heath Ledger, so of course I'll need to rethink this one again....

The person I would cast for Myrtle is Martine McCutcheon...for those who don't know, she played Natalie in Love Actually. She's not on the list of actresses on StoryCasting.com, unfortunately, so I have to add my two cents here.

I really wanted to cast Sean Maher (Firefly, Serenity, The Dive from Clauson's Pier) as Nick Carroway, but he isn't listed on the site.
